LG SMART TVS

Supported LG Smart TVs

Any LG released 2018+, running WebOS 4.0+, and a resolution of 1080p+ (Models released prior to 2018 running a 4.0 may encounter issues but unfortunately, we do not have troubleshooting steps)

LG WebOS TV Version
  • 4.0 - 4.5
    • Go to "Settings
    • Click on "All Settings" then select "General"
    • Scroll down and select "About this TV"
    • Select "TV Information"
    • Select "WebOS TV Version"
  • 5.0 - 22
    • Go to "Settings"
    • Select "All Settings" (or Quick Settings)
    • Click on "General"
    • Select "About this TV"
    • Click on "WebOS TV Version"
LG Software Version

Steps on how to get the Software Version for the LG with a WebOS of 4.0 and higher

  • 4.0 - 4.5
    • Go to "Settings"
    • Click on "All Settings" then select "General"
    • Select "About this TV"
    • Select "Check for Updates"
      • If no updates are found, move to the next step
    • Notate the Software version seen at the top

Please Note: If there is an update you'll see a notice below the software version

  • 5.0 - 5.0
    • Go to "Settings" (looks like a gear icon on your remote)
    • Scroll to the left and select "All Settings" then select "Support"
    • Scroll to the right and select "Software Update"
    • Select "Check for Updates"
    • If an update is available, "Download and Install"
  • 6.0
    • Go to "Settings"
    • Click on "All Settings" then select "Support"
    • Select "Software Update"
    • Select "Check for Updates"
    • If an update is available, "Download and Install"
  • OS22
    • Go to "Settings"
    • Click on "All Settings" then select "Support"
    • Select "Software Update"
    • Select "Check for Updates"
    • If an update is available, "Download and Install"
Installing GFam+

Follow the steps according to the LG TV WebOS.

  • 4.0 - 4.5
    • Press the "Home" on the remote (looks like a house)
    • Select "Search" in the menu
    • Enter "GFam+" and press search
    • Under "Apps" select the "GFam+" app
    • Select "Install"
    • It will auto add to the end of the home smart bar
      • When you click on the home button on the remote it shows the home smart bar
    • Click "Launch"
  • 5.0 
    • Press the Home on the remote (looks like a house)
    • Scroll to the left and select "Search" (looks like a magnifying glass)
    • Type "GFam+"
    • Click "Search" 
    • Under apps, select the GFam+
  • 6.0 & OS22
    • Press HOME on the remote (looks like a house)
    • Select "Apps" from the home menu options at the bottom
    • Press the "Search" icon in the upper right corner
    • Enter "GFam+" and press search
    • Select the application from a list if needed
    • Select "Install"
Uninstalling GFam+

Follow the steps according to the LG TV WebOS

  • 4.0 - 4.5, 5.0 & 6.0
    • Press Home on the remote (looks like a house)
    • Scroll down to put yourself on the apps at the bottom
    • Scroll to the GFam+ app, (do not click on the app) 
    • Once hovering over the GFam+ app click and HOLD until a trash can appears above it
    • Scroll up and select the Trash Can
    • Click "Yes" to confirm 
  • OS22
    • Press HOME on the remote (looks like a house)
    • Select the "Pencil" (in the middle, at the bottom)
    • Select "Edit App List" (at the end of the right side)
    • Select the app you wish to delete and then select the "Trash Bin"
    • Confirm you want to delete the application
Troubleshooting

How to power cycle an LG TV with a WebOS 4.0 or higher

  • 4.0 - 4.5, 5.0, 6.0 & OS22
    • Option 1
      • Press and hold ON/OFF button on the remote for 3 seconds until the TV is off
      • Press the "Power" button on the remote
      • You should see the LG WebOS logo which means the TV has been rebooted
    • Option 2
      • Unplug the power cord from the wall
      • Wait 30 seconds
      • Plug the power cord back in
      • Press the "Power" button on the remote
How to turn closed captions ON/OFF
  • Play title
  • Select the white box in the bottom right enabled "EN" or "Off"
